Submit your application

With your information prepared and documents ready, follow the steps to complete your application through QTAC and directly with JCU. Applications open on 1 August 2024 and close on 30 September 2024 at 5pm AEST.

5 — Apply through the QTAC Portal

Login to your QTAC account or create a new account if you don’t have one.

You can apply for up to six courses through the QTAC portal, making sure you arrange your choices in order of preference. Use your QTAC codes or course names to search for your preferred degrees.

After you submit your QTAC application, you can change your preferences up to three times free of charge. QTAC will charge a fee for each additional change.

Information you’ll be asked to provide includes:

Year 12 studies

  • Year you completed or expect to complete Year 12
  • Name and country of the school you graduated or expect to graduate from.

Bridging subjects

  • Year you completed or expect to complete your bridging subject/s
  • Name of your bridging subject/s or qualification/s
  • Name and country of your education provider.

Tertiary studies commenced or completed after Year 12

  • Your dates of study
  • Name of the degree you commenced or completed
  • Name and country of your university.

When you’ve finished, make a note of your QTAC application number as you’ll need it for the next step. Look for it on the ‘application’ screen in the QTAC portal. It typically starts with the letter ‘A’ followed by nine digits.

6 — Apply through the JCU Portal

  • Check your application carefully before submitting.
  • Once you have submitted your application, you cannot make further changes.
  • Please make sure the email address in your application is correct.

Login to the JCU Application Portal or create a new account if you don’t have one.

Information you’ll be asked to provide includes:

Personal and contact details

  • Include your name and date of birth, address details, phone numbers, QTAC application number and citizenship status.

Course selection

  • Select the same courses you nominated in your QTAC application.

Primary and secondary education

  • List all of the schools you attended in each year from Grade 1 to 12.
  • Include full years, part years, skipped grades and home or alternative schooling.

Tertiary education

  • List any tertiary studies you commenced or completed after Year 12.

Applicant statements

Dentistry and Veterinary Science only
  • Enter your prepared statements, up to 300 words max each.
  • This step is not part of the application process for Medicine.

Letters of support

Dentistry and Veterinary Science only
  • Upload and submit your PDF letters as part of your application.
  • Any letters of support sent separately to your application will not be accepted.
  • This step is not part of the application process for Medicine.

7 — If invited, attend your online interview

Medicine only

After initial assessment of your predicted or actual academic results and supporting information, some applicants for Medicine may be invited by email to attend an online panel interview.

JCU typically holds two rounds of interviews for each year. Please refer to the list of important dates for details relevant for the 2025 intake. Interviews are intended to help assess your suitability for a career in medicine. Panels typically include a medical practitioner, an academic staff member and a member of the community.

If you receive an invitation for an interview, your email will include a link to an online booking system to select your preferred date and time. Once confirmed, requesting changes may not be possible as the schedule usually fills up quickly.

NOTE: Dentistry and Veterinary Science
  • The selection processes for Dentistry and Veterinary Science courses do not involve interviews.
  • Applicants for Dentistry and Veterinary Science have the opportunity to provide written statements to support their application.
