English Pathway

We partner with leading language schools to offer English bridging courses designed to help you enhance the written and spoken English skills required for university study in Australia. These courses focus on academic English and, if needed, English test preparation.

Course structure
The courses are delivered in blocks, and multiple blocks may be needed to reach the required English proficiency level. A recommended course length will be provided upon application. Various commencement intakes are available throughout the academic year.

Fees
Fees vary depending on the length of study required, with additional enrolment and assessment fees potentially applicable.

Entry requirements and application process
If your JCU course requires Band P, Band 1, or Band 2 English proficiency as detailed in the JCU Admissions Policy Schedule II, and you have not yet achieved this, you can apply for an English program through an approved JCU English pathway provider, linked below.

Eligibility
These pathways are available to international students with offers to study at JCU's Cairns or Townsville campuses.

Please note that JCU courses with English language requirements under Bands 3a, 3b, and 3c of the JCU Admissions Policy Schedule II are not eligible for the English pathway. The 
following JCU courses are also not eligible for the English pathway:

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education)
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary)
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
  • Master of Teaching and Learning (Secondary)
  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology
