Roni is a PhD candidate at James Cook University within the ITRH. His research project will broadly focus on aspects of male reproduction and sex change in barramundi. He will investigate the use of endocrine manipulators to delay the natural sex change process from male to female, investigate putative male-related gene expression levels to regulate gonadal restructuring and examine the effect of endocrine manipulation on sperm quality. His research will result in industry applications to better control the sex-change process in barramundi, along with key new knowledge on gene regulation and hormone regulation throughout sex-change in the species.
