Two JCU graduates have taken home awards at the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland (RDAQ) 28th Annual Conference in Townsville.
Doctors Claudia Collins and Marjad Page were each awarded the inaugural Denis Lennox Medal.
Dr Collins is from Mission Beach and trained in Rockhampton and Longreach. She has advanced specialised skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as Indigenous health. She now works in Gladstone at Nhulundu Health Services and is a co-director of Rural Generalist Training.
Dr Page is a proud Christian, Kalkadoon, Waanyi and Ganggalidda man from Mt Isa. He trained in Ipswich and Mount Isa and has advanced specialised skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, and anaesthetics. He now works in Mt Isa at the Base Hospital and Gidgee Health.
Professor Tarun Sen Gupta, RDAQ Treasurer and Director of Medical Education at JCU’s College of Medicine and Dentistry, said the medal recognised outstanding Rural Generalist registrars.
“Congratulations to Dr Collins and Dr Page on their achievements,” he said. “They both completed their GP training with Generalist Medical Training (GMT) and have stayed on as registrar supervisors.”
