Entry Requirements
Completion of a four-year Bachelor of Engineering at AQF Level 7 (or equivalent) in any discipline; or Completion of three years of the Bachelor of Engineering at Xi’an University of Technology (XUT) approved under the JCU-XUT Articulation Schedule only. Note: Entry for Master of Engineering (Professional) in Water Resource Management; Internet of Things and Data Engineering; and Electrical and Renewable Energy majors require completion of a four-year Bachelor of Engineering at AQF Level 7 (or equivalent) in a discipline cognate to the major.

Master basic and advanced engineering subjects, develop professional skills such as risk engineering, asset management, safety in design, business leadership and data analytics, and gain industry experience as required by Engineers Australia.
Graduates will demonstrate in‐depth knowledge of advanced engineering methods through their application in engineering practice. These include design processes, whole system approaches, contemporary project management tools, and decision‐making strategies.
Gain an understanding of the relevance of engineering in society, with specific reference to practices and priorities for creating sustainable communities and industries in the tropics.
Plan and execute a substantial research‐based project by applying advanced laboratory, field or computer techniques to analyse and design solutions to an engineering problem. Gain advanced technical knowledge including an understanding of recent developments in engineering.

Master of Professional Engineering

Engineering Majors
Engineering is a varied industry, offering plenty of alternative career paths and fields to enter. JCU’s Master of Professional Engineering comes with 3 different major options to choose your own interests and ambitions and allow for specialisation in your chosen field. The options include the following:
- Electrical and Renewable Energy: A more desirable field than ever, studying renewable energy will provide you with knowledge about the concepts behind smart grid technologies, low carbon networks, sustainable electricity systems and more.
- Internet of Things and Data Engineering: Data engineering is a rapidly advancing field, and studying it as your major will involve learning about privacy and security, data mining, machine learning, advanced sensor technologies, and digital control and automation, among other topics.
- Water Resource Management: Learn about hydrology and hydrological engineering and the technologies involved in the management of environmental resources. This includes advanced ground water modelling and management, hydrology, and advanced water and wastewater engineering.

Majors
Electrical and Renewable Energy
Be introduced to the concepts behind renewable systems such as smart grid technologies, future-low carbon networks, sustainable electricity systems and the main renewable generation technologies. In this major, you’ll learn how to work with the tools and techniques to integrate renewable energy resources into power systems and processes. You will also learn to work with renewable electronics and create and work within advanced electrical engineering designs.
Internet of Things and Data Engineering
Gain the knowledge and skills to enhance your career in a rapidly advancing field. In this major, you’ll learn about privacy and security in IoT, data mining, machine learning, advanced sensor technologies, and digital control and automation. You will gain practical skills relevant to multiple systems and processes within IoT and be prepared for your future career through applying your knowledge to real-world case studies.
Water Resource Management
This majors consists of core subjects such as Advanced Ground Water Modelling and Management, Hydrology, Introduction to Geographic Information Systems, and Advanced Water and Wastewater Engineering. You’ll learn about the concepts and methodologies used in the analysis of hydrological processes and their application in practice. Gain skills in hydrology and hydrological engineering as well as related theories and technologies in the management of environmental resources.
