Distinguishing features

An erect shrub to 2 m tall, often forming dense clumps. A serious weed. Leaves alternate, compound with 4-6 wedge-shaped leaflets. Flowers in pairs, yellow to 1 cm diameter. Pods slender to 12 cm long and 4 mm diameter. Seeds are a commercial source of the thickener cassia gum.
