Description

This tree to 30 m tall was formerly placed in the genus Anthocephalus. The simple leaves are broadly lanceolate with an acute apex, rather than ovate to obovate leaf with a rounded apex as in Nauclea. The flowers are in a head to 55 mm diameter, the corolla is yellow to orange, style and stamens exserted, fragrant. The fleshy, orange fruit has short bristles; it is to 45 mm diameter.
