Biography
Jonathan is a Student Matters Advisor at JCU. He started working at JCU in 2010, while he was completing a doctorate in political science at the University. He was first elected as the professional and technical staff member of Council from April 2018 and re-elected to the role in 2022.
Jonathan has been involved in community campaigning in Cairns around environmental issues, international solidarity, public transport, refugee rights and workers’ rights. He is currently Vice-President of Rural Australians for Refugees, having served previously as RAR’s Secretary and then President since 2019, and an elected officer of his union branch.
