Biography
Jayne Arlett was appointed to the JCU Council in April 2018 and elected Deputy Chancellor on 6 May 2022 for a two-year term.
Ms Arlett has over 20 years’ experience as a board director in a variety of organisations including statutory, not-for-profit and commercial boards. Previous appointments include RACQ, RACQ Bank, RACQ Insurance, Townsville Grammar School and the Museum of Tropical Queensland. Ms Arlett has a medical and sporting background and is the former Chair of JCU Townsville Fire, the only professional women’s sporting team in northern Australia. She is retains her focus on sport and exercise as the Chair of Discover Sport, a controlled entity of JCU.
Ms Arlett has a strong business background and has owned and operated several businesses in the health (sports podiatry), medical distribution, retail and tourism sectors. With a community focus and extensive experience in governance, strategy design, business growth, change management and marketing, Ms Arlett brings a variety of skills to JCU Council.
