William R. Birch Prize

History of the prize

This prize was founded in 1992 by former colleagues and members of the then Department of Botany to honour the contribution of the late William R Birch and to acknowledge his services to teaching and research over many years and his part in the development of the Department of Botany and Tropical Agriculture. The prize is awarded to the College of Science and Engineering student who has demonstrated outstanding overall ability in Ecology subjects and achieved the overall highest overall result in level 1 and 2 subjects.
