2024 King's Birthday Honours for JCU community

We extend our congratulations to the James Cook University staff and alumni who have been recognised in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours list.

They are as follows:

Professor Brett McDermott – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) – Townsville - For significant service to medicine in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry.


Sarina Russo – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) – Brisbane - For significant service to business, to the community, and to vocational education and training.


Distinguished Professor Stuart Kaye  - Companion of the Order of Australia (AC)-  New South Wales -  Former Head School of Law 2001-2002 and Professor, 2000-2002 -  For service to international law, and to tertiary education.


Professor Greta Pecl (BSc hons, 1995  & PhD, 2001) – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) – Tasmania  - For significant service to science, particularly ecological research, and to tertiary education.


Margaret Maunsell (BCom, 1982) – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) – Cairns - For service to business, and to the community of Cairns.


Lesley Woolf (GCertWkPsychRurHlth, 2022) – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) – Katherine (NT) -  For service to Indigenous health, and to rural and remote nursing.
