Intent
To ensure that James Cook University (JCU; the University) provides appropriate and contextualised support strategies and services for our students, via JCU Staff and other appropriate agencies, which enable students to develop capabilities to successfully complete their units of study at JCU.
Scope
This Policy applies to all students admitted to units of study at JCU in Australia. This Policy also applies to all JCU employees and individuals involved in the delivery and support of our educational programs and support services across our Australian campuses and online delivery ensuring a consistent approach to the provision of student support across the Institution.
This Policy does not apply to the Singapore campus.

Except where otherwise indicated in this policy, the definitions used in this policy are found in the Policy Glossary.

1. This policy is published in accordance with the University’s obligations under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth) and should be read in conjunction with the guidelines and procedures sections of other relevant University policies including:

2. Students at Risk
2.1 The University will monitor student engagement and identify students who may be at risk of not successfully completing their units of study.
2.2 Students that are identified as being at risk will be triaged into appropriate support services to ensure that they have the best chance of being successful in their units of study.
3. Support Available to Students
3.1 The University will provide appropriate, inclusive and accessible support services to our students to ensure a positive and successful education experience.
3.2 The support services that are available will be communicated directly to our students and staff and will also be easily accessible through the JCU website.
