Dr Shiv Thanigaimani

My broad research interests span within vascular biology, specifically in understanding the mechanisms of abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral vascular diseases. My primary focus is to unravel the mechanisms involved in vascular inflammation and endothelial injury of these diseases using in vitro and pre-clinical models and identifying novel biomarkers for early detection in clinical diagnostics, thereby improving quality of life in patients and their subsequent management.

Currently, I am investigating the potential for the DMARD class of drugs to limit AAA progression. I would welcome any inquiries from students interested in gaining research experience or undertaking honors or Ph.D. research projects in vascular biology.
