I’m Alicia from the Student Success Team at James Cook University. I’m based in Townsville on the Bebegu Yumba campus, and my role is to support students in the College of Science and Engineering. I have spent almost 20 years teaching secondary Maths in both Australia and the UK so believe me when I say that I understand the challenges that students face. I am passionate about helping students to achieve their goals and dreams, and pride myself on being excellent listener. Ebony Allen-Ankins

My name is Ebony, and I am a Student Success Officer, part of the Student Success Team at JCU. I am based in Townsville on the Bebegu Yumba campus and am passionate about helping students meet their career, academic, and personal goals during their time at JCU. I currently support Engineering students in Townsville and Cairns; however, I have worked across all of the College of Science and Engineering. I have a BSc. in Environmental Management and Ecology and have worked within universities as an academic for over 10 years, so I understand the pressures of student and academic life. I can connect students with services that help them navigate personal and academic challenges. I approach each student meeting with compassion and without judgement, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. We all need support sometimes, and it’s my pleasure to be here to support you.

Matt Kennedy

My name is Matt and I work in the Student Success Team. You can find me at the Nguma-bada Cairns campus. I support students in the College of Business, Law and Governance and the College of Science and Engineering. I do have some life experience and I will willingly listen to your concerns, whatever they may be. If I don’t have the immediate answers you seek, I can refer you to another service that can specifically help you. Please, do not hesitate to reach out while you are here at JCU. I look forward to hearing from you in the not to distance future!
